Cardiorespiratory fitness improves the heart and lung condition and helps people feel better overall. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that adults engage in cardiovascular exercise 3-5 times per week at a moderate intensity, maintaining a heart rate of 65-85% of maximum. Other activities include swimming, biking, and walking rapidly. A balance exercise is a good way to improve your posture and prevent falls. Finally, flexibility exercises can improve your range of motion. Yoga can be an excellent choice for these exercises.

Regardless of what form of exercise you choose, you’ll benefit from knowing the benefits and effects of the exercises you’re doing. Physical activity improves your mood and sleep patterns and changes the chemical balance in your brain. Many health professionals recommend 30 minutes of moderate physical activity each day. While it’s important to exercise regularly, you should be careful not to overdo it. Moreover, you should always consult a healthcare professional before beginning a new exercise program. Your physician can prescribe the appropriate intensity and duration for your physical condition.

In order to increase the benefits of exercise, you should start a fitness program that combines moderate and vigorous intensity activity. Experts recommend completing at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week. However, if you’re not able to meet that number, you should try to get at least half of this amount of exercise. Although this may not be possible for every individual, the benefits of exercise can be seen if you do it regularly.
